Best Cigar Stores in Dublin, Ireland

I had the pleasure of visiting Dublin this month. If there's one thing I enjoy as much as cigars, it's a good Guinness in a European town. So, while sipping the best Guinness in the world and sampling some fine Irish whiskey, I made sure to explore the local cigar shops. After all, who could pass up the chance to pick up some Cubans and other rare cigars?

Here are the top 4 cigar stores in Dublin, Ireland:

Decent Cigar Emporium - Rank #4

If you're searching for Opus X cigars in Dublin, you've come to the right spot— a rare find in Ireland. However, if you're hoping to light up a Cuban, you’ll be out of luck here. Despite the prominent display of Cuban flags and portraits of Che Guevara throughout the space, no Cuban cigars are sold.

The ambiance is laid-back and unpretentious. It’s not a luxury lounge with velvet seats and top-shelf whiskey, but it’s cozy enough to unwind with a good smoke. There’s a small but comfortable indoor seating area. Cigar prices are noticeably higher than what you’d find in the U.S., but that’s standard across Ireland due to taxes and import costs. Compared to other Irish cigar lounges, pricing here is pretty average.

All in all, it’s a solid spot for cigar lovers — nothing overly fancy, but dependable and welcoming. A decent place to relax, enjoy a quality smoke, and maybe even strike up a conversation with a fellow aficionado.

Peterson of Dublin - Rank #3

I love a store with history etched into its walls. There's something priceless about that old wood feel — a sense of tradition you can't replicate.

This Irish pipe manufacturer, best known for its high-quality smoking pipes and fine tobacco, was founded in 1865 by Charles Peterson and the Kapp brothers, Friedrich and Heinrich. Over the years, the company has grown into one of the most respected and iconic names in the world of pipe-making.

Their humidor offers a solid selection, featuring both Cuban and New World cigars. We've already covered cigar pricing in Ireland, so no need to revisit that here.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. If I lived in Dublin, this would be my go-to spot — a perfect blend of atmosphere and class. Exactly what every cigar smoker deserves.

James J. Fox - Rank #2

If you are talking cigars and Dublin, JJ Fox is the icon. This historic family-owned tobacconist and whiskey specialist based at 119 Grafton Street in Dublin, operating since 1881. Known for its premium cigars, pipes, and Irish whiskies—including their own branded James J. Fox Irish Whiskey.

The best rare cigar collection in Dublin can be found here. The selection mainly features Davidoff’s for New World cigars, along with a bit of everything when it comes to Cubans. As mentioned, the business also specializes in whiskey—there’s actually more whiskey on offer than cigars.

While there’s no smoking lounge inside, which is a bit of a downside, the store is surrounded by plenty of spots where you can sit outside and enjoy your cigar. The store itself is small, so don’t expect to spend a long time browsing. However, it can get quite busy, so don’t assume you’ll be in and out within two minutes.

The staff are extremely polite and professional, perfectly reflecting the classiness you’d expect from a top-tier establishment.

P.S. Be sure to ask for a VAT form if you want to claim your tax refund.

Temble Bar - The Distillery Store - Rank #1

"Drumroll, please... And the winner is: The Temple Bar!”

The Temple Bar Pub, situated in the heart of Dublin’s famous Temple Bar district at 47-48 Temple Bar, is one of the city’s most iconic and photographed pubs. Known for its vibrant red facade, the pub is a magnet for both tourists and locals looking to experience authentic Irish culture. Inside, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with traditional Irish music sessions taking place almost daily, creating a festive and convivial environment. The pub’s interior is cozy and classic, filled with wooden furnishings and walls adorned with memorabilia reflecting Ireland’s rich heritage.

The store/bar offers a carefully curated selection of premium cigars and features a comfortable, well-ventilated designated smoking area where you can truly relax and savor their smoke. If you’re a fan of drinks, you’re in luck — the beer and whiskey selection here ranks among the finest in Dublin, boasting everything from rich, robust stouts to smooth, aged whiskeys. Try the Guiness! The ambiance is further elevated by authentic Irish music playing in the background all night, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the Irish experience.

Finding a better place in Dublin to enjoy a quality cigar, sip on expertly chosen drinks, and spend an evening with good friends is a real challenge. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this spot offers an ideal blend of comfort, culture, and conviviality. Sláinte!

A quick note: most of my photos were taken early in the morning, which is why the place looks relatively empty in the images. However, don’t be fooled — venues fills up quickly, especially during the tourist season from July to September. After 6 PM, it’s often difficult to find an available seat without a reservation, so plan accordingly if you want to experience the lively, bustling vibe Dublin is known for.

Tip: Avoid staying in hotels near Temple Bar if you value a good night’s sleep. The music in this district doesn’t stop until around 2 AM, and you’ll definitely hear it loud and clear in your hotel room. Also, skip renting a car while you’re in Dublin — walking is usually much faster and more convenient than driving in the city center. The rooms actually come with earplugs lol.

When it comes to tipping in Ireland, it’s appreciated but not mandatory. If you choose to leave a tip, around 10% is more than enough.

The Irish were incredibly warm and welcoming — I truly felt at home. I can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again. Thank you for the unforgettable memories, Ireland!
